About Me

My name is Marshall and I’m a writer. I’m in my late 20s and still figuring out my life. I appreciate good things – a good book, a good movie, a good album. You get the idea. I enjoy what I enjoy and try not to be a gatekeeper. Life doesn’t make sense, so I choose to embrace and lean into that chaos.

This blog is born from a few different writing-based projects that have been ruminating in my mind for a few years. Most are in various degrees of ‘in progress’ – none have been completed at the time of this writing. This seems to be the latest one, but I’m optimistic that I’ll continue this as it provides a more formal avenue for sharing my work than a Word doc or Notes app file. Only time will tell.

The story behind the name is relatively straightforward. Life is mental and our story continues to develop until it eventually ends…of which we are likely to not know. They say you die twice – once when you take your last breath and the second when you’re no longer remembered in memory. It’s the ‘second death’ we can’t predict (and likely shouldn’t).

So this is my story. It continues to develop, and yes, it continues to be mental. There’s not much more to it! I don’t proclaim to be a good writer (whatever that means) or have anything profound to say. I simply want to share my thoughts and musings – a creative outlet to process and understand the good, the bad, and the beautiful experiences I’ve had.

There’s an incredible catharsis and peace that comes with expression – it’s powerful and palpable. I hope you discover that same power through your creative outlets.

Thank you for reading!
